December 21, 2012 – End of days or just media hype?

I’m pretty sure everyone has seen the blockbuster Hollywood move, 2012.  The special effects were great and the premise of the movie was based on actual archaeological evidence found in ancient Mayan cities such as Palenque.  Some say it’s all hocus pocus and it’s just a way to sell movie tickets and books and others believe that something truly will happen that will lead to a near extinction of the human species and most other animal species on our little planet.  To understand all the hype surrounding the mayan prophecies you have to view the world the way the mayans did.

The prediction of 2012 is based on the Mayan long count calendar that spans what the Mayans called the five ages.  The calendar itself is circular consisting of three rings.  We today see life as a river that just passes by and the same thing never happens twice, but the Mayans didn’t see reality in that same way.  We count 1, 2, 3, etc and the Maya counted 1, 2, 3, 1.  The Maya saw everything as circling back in on itself. Every mayan calendar goes in some sort of cycle and theres a beginning and an end to everything. The sacred calendar was about the cycles of life, the solar calendar was about being farmers and the third calendar is the one that brings up 2012, its called the long count calendar. The long count calendar encompasses five ages and it shows the end of each age. We can see all five ages on the famous Aztec sunstone. The last four ages ended in catastrophy that lead to the extinction of the human race.  At the end of each of the four previous ages humans had become disrespectful to the gods so the gods eradicated the humans and placed new humans on the planet to start all over again. We are now in the fifth age and for some reason the mayans never created the number six. The one thing we know about the mayans is the fact that they were extremely passionate about measuring time, but for some reason on the winter solstice of 2012 they stopped. December 21, 2012 is the last day of their calendar and there is no sixth age.

A decade ago an archaeologist named Jim Turner discovered a 150ft tall monument carved from the flanks of a volcano. The monument was found on a 58 square mile island 400 miles off the coast of Chile called the Juan Fernandez Archaepelago. The island itself is near Easter island. The monument is of the mayan sun god and appearantly was strategically carved there to remain hidden. What baffles me is the fact that the mayans travelled thousands of miles from their Yucatan peninsula home to carve the monument. If the mayans could travel by sea to such exotic locations where else did they go? And how did they know that such a remote island even existed? The island can only be reached in the months of November and December by todays environment. These two months are the middle of the summer in the southern hemisphere and the only time the Humbolt current can be crossed safely. The rest of the year the current is to turbulent to cross. It’s as if the island was chosen as a sacred location for 2012 by the ancient mayan King Kan B’alam, son of the famous mayan king Pakal. It’s interesting to note that Kan B’alams tomb has never been found. Kan B’alam has been found to be the single greatest and longest serving king in mayan and any other civilizations history. During Kan B’alams reign there was two solar eclipses that happened back to back and both crossed the island. The tomb of Kan B’alam has eluded archaeologists for fifty years and is rumored to contain the secret of what will happen in 2012. The monument may be the tomb of this once great king and it seems like it was strategically placed on this island to be found on or around the end of the fifth age.

Two celestial events will occur in 2012 as predicted by the mayans and according to the mayans both events will be seperated by 160 days. The NASA websites on eclipses and transits confirms both of these events and on June 6, 2012 an extremely rare transit of Venus will occur, then on November 13, 2012 there will be a total solar eclipse – both celestial events are seperated by 160 days. Both events were predicted by the mayans to indicate the end of the fifth age. Whats really interesting is the fact that the only place in the western hemisphere where both events can be seen is on this island and even today on July 11, 2010 a total solar eclipse will cross easter island, the first time in 1400 years.

When the Spanish conquistadores first came to the Yucatan peninsula 400 years ago, most of the great Mayan cities and temples were already completely abandoned. A few mayans remained and what the spanish saw deeply shocked them. Mayan priests sacrificing humans to their gods. The movie Apocalypto illustrates this accurately. Peoples heads being chopped off then the priests would roll the head and body down the 365 steps of the mayan temple. The mayans would cheer and rejoice at these ritualistic sacrifices and that gave the conquistidores the automatic impression that this new world was a world of deep herecy. The spanish priests burned huge libraries of books and scrolls leaving only four known mayan texts to be in existence today. The most famous is the Dresdon Codex. According to history the codex which resembles a multi-page folding pamphlet was given to the king of Spain and somehow it wound up in the museum of Dresdon, Germany and thats how it got its name. This is the reason why the doomsday theory of 2012 is such a deeply heated debate. Its like we as a civilization just disappeared, leaving nothing but just a few random books and the stonework in some of our cities. Lets say a thousand years later archaeologists from here or even another planet discover remnants of what was once New York City, Rome or Paris. All the archaeologists would study the hieroglyghics in the stone work and try to understand what it all meant. To us words like Brooklyn Bridge, The Leuve, Macys or any other building that had its name carved in stone are just an extremely small part of who we are. Since these archaeologists only had a few books and the stories within those books were the only evidence of our existence you can see the problem that present day archaeologists have with trying to understand all the ancient civilizations that have come before us. The dresdon codex though has some interesting writings that have been deciphered. The last page refers to 2012 just like the long count calendar and the same hieroglyphics have been found in the temple of inscriptions, the tomb of King Pakal in the great city of Palenque. Only 1 percent of the Mayan temples and cities has actually been studied. A recent discovery of a Mayan city had been completely untouched since its inhabitants had left. Archaeologists found tools, pottery and other implements that indicated that the people that called this city home just got up and left. What could make thousands of people just get up an leave? And this wasn’t the only city that people just got up and left, it seems like most of the Mayan civilization just disappeared. Nothing like it has ever been found in our relentless pursuit of history.

So what will happen on or before the winter solstice of 2012? Perhaps nothing or maybe everything. As in the end of the other ages we have become disrespectful of eachother and the environment. Wars dominate the globe, global recession has made the possibility of a global depression ever more likely, wide spread droughts span entire continents, epic oil spills devastating an entire gulf sea, extreme heat waves melt coastal cities throughout the world, entire glaciers like Greenland are increasingly melting into the Atlantic ocean, atmospheric pollution has tripled the amount of carbon dioxide that naturally occurs in the atmosphere, methane locked in permafrost for millenia in north Siberia is now increasingly leaking into the air because of the thawing permafrost, new and emerging infectious diseases are affecting developed and undeveloped countries alike, famine spans continents and not just cities and war is affecting every corner of the globe. The coincidences are almost impossible to ignore, but like the Y2K bug it may just pass with not even a hiccup. If anything the mayans were highly advanced and extraordinary astronomers. Maybe all this is just hype to sell movies and books, we can only hope so!

New forcast of oil spill and ocean current.

Oil trajectory with Atlantic current  No one has ever wondered what would happen if a big enough oil spill of unimagined magnitude was to enter the Atlantic ocean current. Everyone knows how vital the oceanic current is to the entire planets climatology. What would happen if a slick of oil saturated the north Atlantic. Warm waters from the equator follow the loop current all the way to a huge oceanic turbin in the north Atlantic. Warm water mixes with the colder northern waters and creates a huge engine that drives the entire Atlantic current. The oil spill in the gulf is unstoppable and its global implications are yet to be realized. This could easily turn from a matter of national significance to a matter of GLOBAL significance.  watch?v=pE-1G_476nA&playnext_from=TL&videos=N5sl8sOltRM

Oil spill? No it’s an Oil Eruption!

The phrase “oil spill” doesn’t do justice for whats going on in the gulf of Mexico right now.  The term “oil spill” needs to be replaced by the phrase “Oil Eruption”.  Just watch the live feeds of the broken pipe lines and you’ll understand why. I tried to hyperlink the video from CNN, but I couldnt get it to work.  An oil spill is when a known amount of oil is dumping into a particular area, like what happened with the Exxon Valdez in 1989.  Whats happening now in the gulf is something completely different.  Unlike the Valdez incident, we have no idea about the size of the oil deposit that BP tapped into.  They’re not telling us either and probably never will, after all they want to keep that a secret.  I can gaurantee you one thing, the U.S Department of Interior knows how much oil is there and they’re not saying either.  After you watch the video of the underwater OIL ERUPTION, it leaves you feeling sick or at least to me it does.  After numerous failed efforts by BP to contain the broken lines, many are askin why the government doesn’t do more?  Let the truth be told, our government doesn’t know what to do either.  They’re keeping the pressure on BP, but the all mighty United States government is just as lost as BP.  Wouldn’t you think that after decades of drilling and billions of dollars in profit, both BP and the US government would have a plan in place to contain a situation like this?  Both parties are completely ignorant and have once again let down the American people.  Wasn’t that the whole deal behind the OPA (Oil Petroleum Act) of 1994, legislation to combat a scenerio just like this or was it only political jargon for another drunk dry docking an oil tanker? I’d like to see a reporter ask both BP and US government how to stop this leak?  Or why did the MMS issue a permit knowing something like this was possible?  Im so tired of the playground finger pointing!  Just like the Today show interview with Ken Salazar, I think he was worse than the BP spokesman.  I mean, you know the BP guy is lying whenever his lips move, but Salazar is trying to be the good guy and he looked like the worlds biggest ASS!  Kudo to Merdith Viera for keeping his wormy ass to the fire!  If they can’t stop the eruption, so be it.  Then we just have to suck it up and move forward the best way we can.  But we need to be told the truth amount the amount of oil that is beneath those pumps.  Therefore we can take the amount of oil that is in the underground deposit, divide that number by the amount of oil that those gushers are spewing out a day, the quotient will give us a rough idea of how long it will take for the Earth to bleed out and what to expect in terms of environmental damage.  All I ask is that both sides quit lying! Enough is enough, the American public is so tired of corrupt lobbyists, even more corrupt politicians and beyond corrupt oil companies telling lies and pointing the finger.  The U.S government, BP, Halliburton and Transocean are all to blame.  Our elected politicians have done more harm to us than any company, they continue to take lots of money, drag their feet on necessary reform and sell out the American public.  Contributions should be outlawed – theyre killing our country!   In the mean time all parties need to come clean about the size and impact of these oil eruptions.  All we ask is that you all show a little honesty now and then, is that to much to ask?

BP (Bankrupt Petroleum)

This is just my opinion of the future of the oil spill, but if this happens all hell will break loose!  I foresee BP going belly up because of the spill in the gulf.  Theres to many indicators that point in the direction of CONSPIRACY!  My idea is that over the course of the next couple months, BP is going to say that the size and magnitude of the spill is to much for the company to tackle by themselves. Major investors that are also members of BP’s board are going to sell off their shares to another oil giant like Exxon and this in turn is going to cause a panic amongst BP’s other investors and cause them to create a major sell off as well. The money the major shareholders make in the sell off will be invested in another company – to be named later.  BP will file for chapter 13 protection and leave the American taxpayer with the single largest man-made ecological and financial disaster in history. The burdon associated with the spill will leave the U.S government between the proverbial rock and a hard place.  This will bank-roll an already burdoned U.S economy, leading us to another great depression.  Just like the great depression of the 1930’s, people will again find themselves in the government cheese line.

Remember the history classes we had to take in high school and the lesson on the great depression.  The great depression was the result of thousands of banks calling in Margin loans that millions of people pulled from personal banks.  The 20’s and the early 2000’s share alot in common.  In the early 20’s people could pull out what was called a margin loan.  They could buy 1000$ worth of stock for only 100$ or 10% of the total amount.  The broker would pay the rest and people in the 20’s made alot of money.  The only catch was that the Margin loan could be called in at any time and when the bank would call in the loan, the person who had the loan had only 24 hours to pay off the loan in full. This usually meant paying the broker in cash along with the remaining stocks.  This left millions of Americans broke and sleeping on the street.  The same thing happened in the early 2000’s when millions of Americans were given loans for homes that the banks knew could never be paid back.  People were given lines of credit when in reality they never should have got the loan.  When the banks adjusted the interest rate, people were left upside down and drowning in a sea of debt.  The bankers knew this would happen, but lots of bankers banked in on the hurt of millions of broke Americans.  The housing bubble burst and many wall street investment banks had made billions in junk mortgages.  When wall street hit bottom they were lucky that one of the good ole boys that caused the disaster was appointed to the department of Treasury, Henry Paulson.  He went before congress and reguested billions upon billions of dollars and asked that he be given total control over the funds.  Congress gave him the money and he gave the money to his friends on wall street.  Meanwhile people were sleeping in shelters, eating at soup kitchens and mailing in their keys instead of their payment.  Wall street investment firms had made almost a trillion dollars then was given money from the same people they screwed over to make the investors happy.  We remain in a recession because of these elite few who control the American economy.  Now in the shadows of another depression were being hit by another financial disaster, the gulf oil spill.

BP will walk away from this spill and wash their hands of the responsibility of the clean up.  In the meantime another company will acquire all the assets of BP and acquire none of the oil clean up.  The Obama administration, congress and the senate will allow this to happen.  Bobby Jindahl, the governor of louisiana has already tried to pass new state legislation that would make it illegal for companies that utilize state assistance to sue BP over any costs associated with the disaster.  While all this is happening, the American currency will lose all of its worth, or at least what little worth it has now.  Maybe this will finally usher in the North American Union and the active use of the Amero, who knows.  All I know is that this spill has to many questions that surround it.  Why did the Obama administration allow BP to continue to lie to the American public about the size of the spill?  Why did Ken Salazar allow the MMS to maintain a cozy relationship with big oil?  How in the hell did BP get a permit to put a well 5000 feet below the surface with no back up plans in the case of an emergency? Not only that but also giving BP a permit when it has a history of a piss poor safety record?  Were all going to get stuck with the bill on this deal.  Politicians and the elite who control our economy are going to reap billions from this disaster.

Drill, baby drill!

If the videos of the hurling oil from the bowls of the Earth don’t bother you, you have problems! What was once estimated to be 70,000 barrels a day is now much, much more. To put this into perspective, there are 44 gallons in a barell. The people of America are continuously being lied to by BP and our own government. The MMA issued a well permit, knowing that BP had no technology to fix any problems that might arise 5,000 feet below the ocean’s surface in the gulf of Mexico. The gulf of Mexico is such a key component to the entire global climate. Oil now threatens to enter the gulf loop and carry on its cancerous journey into the Atlantic ocean current. State representative’s are siding with the oil companies and leaving the American public in a wasteland of tar. This oil spill has so many potentials to cause unpresidented damage. BP, Halliburton and Transocean are all responsible for this, both ethically and financially. All three of these giants are being controlled by the worst that greed can produce. We can’t allow our government to continue business as usual with this epic disaster. This is our legacy to our children, we cant let these bastards destroy our legacy as we just sit on the sidelines and watch the same old Washington leave us high and dry. These companies have to be held responsible and if our elected officials can’t put the legacy of our children before their own bank accounts, they need to be impeached. I gaurantee after the first few are kicked out of office, the tune in Washington will change. Whether your Republican, Democrat, independent, christian, muslim or athiest it doesn’t matter. We are all AMERICANS! Every time a representative blocks or questions the responsibility that lies on the shoulders of these companies, they disrespect every man and woman that has died protecting our freedom. Patriots that have made the ultimate sacrifice, did so because they believed in preserving America for future generations. This disaster isn’t just a side note or earmark to be politically blocked because of the greed of our representatives, its a test of ones will to put the good of the country before their own portfolio. This isn’t just a so called “green” opinion, its an American opinion based on the foundation of “WE THE PEOPLE”…

Perspective

Last night was an almost magical night. It started with a fiery end as the sun disappeared below the western horizon and Venus lit up the western sky like a celestial beacon. A sliver of the moon lied a hands width below Venus’s light and created an image that defined hope. My ten year old daughter pointed to the iconic image and said “Dad, that is so pretty. You think other people are looking at the same thing as us?” I told her, “I hope so because if not, we’re a pretty sorry species.” That one moment in time inspired me to write this blog. A blog of hope for a self-destructive species.

In another blog I wrote, I spoke of civilization’s passed and the civilization’s of the present. When I think of the trials and tribulations that we as a people have had to overcome to become who we are today, i’m humbled. Just the thought of what my grandparents, great grandparents and great-great grandparents had to overcome for me to be here now to write this blog leaves me with a sense of humility that is almost impossible to define. My personal history is a direct reflection of humanities history as a whole. Everyone alive today is here only because of the drive and determination of our ancestors. And our ancestors lived only because of the sheer will of their ancestors. It’s a cycle of life that is driven by a mixture of culture, chemistry and biology. Without all three of these key ingredients we wouldn’t be here.

As me and my daughter gazed upon the night sky I asked my daughter, “As we look up at the stars and ask if other civilizations are out there, do you think that someone else on another planet is looking at our star and asking the same question?” She replied, “I don’t know?” To me, that was the perfect response. I’ve never wanted my daughters beliefs to be a mirrored reflection of my own. I have always wanted them to draw their own conclusions about matters of life and religion. Skepticism and curiosity have always been qualities I have tried to instill in my daughters and for the first time I saw the fruits of my labor. It may not sound like much to you, but to me it was a great moment.

She finally got tired of looking at the stars with dad and decided to head inside to watch her favorite t.v show, “Diner’s, drive-in’s and dives”. I can’t blame her, it’s a cool show. I stayed outside though and left my mind to wonder wherever it wanted to. Sometimes the best and most inspiring ideas come from a mind left free to wander.

I started to think about a book I had just finished called, “The language of life” by Francis S. Collins; if you havn’t read it and your curious about the accelerating world of genetics – I strongly recommend it. I started to think about the world of the incredibly small and how it relates to the world of the infinitly large. Now before you think it, i’m not talking about the unified theory of everything such as connecting the Quantum world with the world of Relativity, but I am talking about the energy of all living things. I used to think that my idea’s we’re mine alone until I saw Avatar. If you have seen Avatar, do you remember the part when Jake said,” Netere talks about an energy that flows through all living things, and she says that all energy is borrowed and one day you have to give it back”. That particular part of the movie reverberated throughout my soul. It was a belief that I had shared with family and friends and for the first time it was right in front of me on the big screen. The idea of genetics being the reason for the existence of every living creature truly is AMAZING! Well, at least it is to me.

I’ve been fascinated with biology ever since I can remember, but then again everything about life in general has always fascinated me. I went to college for a while, but I always had the problem of not knowing which path to follow. My passion was so diverse I never could narrow down a degree. Now at the age of thirty-two I finally know the path I should’ve followed, and that would have been Bio-physics. I strongly believe that this field of study will dramatically alter the course of human evolution. Like so many other times, last nights star gazing drove me down the highway of the physics of biology.

I owe my existence to an amazing collaboration of 400 trillion cells working together for the good of the colony. It’s like watching an ant hill as all the ants work together to ensure the survival of the colony. Unlike ants though, we humans have a charcteristic that sets us upart from all the other species in the animal kingdom. We have the power and the evolutionary anomaly called intelligence. Now I know that many animals show signs of an equal intelligence such as dolphins, but we have single handedly manipulated our environment to suit our needs. This power to overcome nearly every obstacle has been driven by the selflessness of each and every cell in our body.

400 trillion is so hard to comprehend, if not impossible. How can so many cells know what to do and how to do it. Every person on planet Earth has these same cells and within each of these cells lies the miracle of life itself, DNA. No matter if your black, white, hispanic, asian or any other ethnecity, our DNA only differs by .04%. Yet we fight, kill and oppress eachother because of racial heritage. 6.2 billion nucleotides make up the well recognized double helix. The same gene misspelling that causes cancer in a white person will cause cancer in a black person. Were all brothers and sisters whether you like it or not. The only things that seperate us are country borders, religous beliefs and political differences. As we continue to kill eachother over bullshit motives we tend to forget that at one time we were all the same egg cell in the mothers womb. We were all fertilized by the sperm of our fathers and once both sets of genomes were brought together evolution took over and the greatest spectacle of life began its journey. One cell became two, two became four, four became eight, and when the embryo attained this eight cell moment, DNA was left to operate the program. Eight stem cells became every cell in your body, whether they be brain cells, heart cells, lung cells, skin cells or any of the other cells, these amazing stem cells created all the necessary cells that were needed to make our human bodies.

Each cell in your body has the same exact DNA, each cell though utilizes a seperate gene to make the proteins it needs so it can contribute to collective whole of the organism. Take for example; when you put a couple of heart cells in a petri dish and add growth media what happens is amazing. The heart cells will divide just as they were programmed to do and eventually what was once a microscopic group of cells is now a visible thin layer that covers the bottom of the petri dish that begins to beat just like a heart. This kind of experiment can be done with anyones heart cells, it doesn’t matter where youre from or what you look like. What I find more amazing than that is the enigma of our minds.

When I say our mind, im referring to the brains ability to create personality. According to our body size, we have a proportionaly larger brain than anything else alive today. To me, the brain is the most beautiful organ in the body, not only because of the abilities it gives us to be creatures of free will, but the way its formed. I’m not going to give any time frames or dates when the brain evolved into being, but i’m going to just give an explanation of the events that led us to who we are.

In the long ago past we looked much different and our brains reflected our physical image due to our environment. In the beginning of every humans evolution all we had to control our bodies was small bulb shaped group of cells called the brainstem or as some call it, the reptilian brain. Some call it the reptilian brain because most reptiles have the same brain today. This small group of cells  sits on the very top of our spinal cord. This brain served our early ancestors well and we still benefit and owe our lives to this small brain. This primitive brain controls all of our involuntary functions such as breathing, heart beat, blood pressure and metabolism. You ever heard of the fight or flight response? This is the brain that controls adrenaline. All of us work, play, learn and sleep without having to worry about remembering to breath or pump our heart because nature has taken care of that for us. With the amazing ability of the brain stem we live our lives how we want, but who we are doesn’t end there.

Theres another brain that surrounds the brain stem like a helmet and its called the Limbic region. This area of the brain has a series of neural connections that give us the ability to nurture.Theres four little almond shaped organs that lie in this part of the brain that give us the ability to be humanitarian. Two of these little structures are called the hippocampus or hippocampi(2). Both of these are located in both temporal lobes of the brain and give us the ability to create memories and feel emotion. When you hear of someone with amnesia, this is the part of the brain that has been damaged. The other two structures that lie within the limbic region are called the Amygdala. These two structures are near the brain stem, but one is in the right hemisphere and the other is in the left. These structures also give us the ability to create an emotional response to situations. Emotions after all are one of the biggest attributes that make humans unique. Thats why the limbic region is often called the emotional brain.

The last area of the brain is the part that everyone is familiar with, the Neocortex. You know, the grey matter thats folded and split down the middle. This area of the brain gives us logic, reasoning, forming concepts and fine tunes the emotional responses that are created deeper within the brain. This part of the brain truly makes us human. In redicuously simple form i’ve given a description of the physical aspects of the brain, but its not the physical aspects that really amaze me, its the non-physical that humbles me.

The physical brain is an enigma and testament to the infinite genius of life. All three components work together to create what is called the mind. The mind can’t be defined in physical terms, in fact it really can’t be defined at all. Each and every person has a unique and conscious mind that defines who they are. Over a 100 billion neurons lie within the brain. A 100 billion, thats as many stars that there is in the Milky Way galaxy. Each neuron is like a transistor on a microchip, but instead of using electrons and binary code to operate the program, it uses a complex language of electro-chemical signals to relay information. The intricacy of neuronal connections is so complex and so beautiful that people have tried to understand how it all works, but we know more about the surface of Mars than we know about the inner workings of the brain. Ever since were born neurons begin to make connections with eachother. They form life long friendships with each other that define personality and character. Were all born with all the neurons that we will ever have and different times in our development form patterns that will carry on throughout our lives.

I’ve always liked to use an analogy that I came up with a long time ago. I would imagine myself being shrunk down to the size of a neuron, then being put right in the middle of one the two hemispheres in my brain, then I would put another analogy to work to make my point. What if one day an alien spacecraft came to earth and for the first time you actually made contact with them. They told you that they had the technology to fly twenty thousand light years out of our galaxy and give you a panoramic view of the entire galaxy and they could do it within minutes. You of course said yes and off you went. After what seemed to be just a few minutes you slowly begin to see the galaxy come into view. You look out of a window and behold, you’re home galaxy – 100,000 light years across, is for the first time being seen by a human being. You instantly become humbled and realize that all of our petty differences account for nothing. We are all so small and insignificant and yet we’re all amazing and precious. Then the little grey aliens tell you its time to go home, so you buckle up and begin the return home. As you become surrounded by millions and millions of stars they suddenly stop, give you a space suit and kick your ass out of the space ship. As theyre all laughing at the stupid and ignorant human they dissappear into the infinite darkness. You look around and try to get a bearing of where you are, but you quickly realize that there is no north, south, east and west and all the stars look almost identical. Some are bigger and some are smaller, but even with a space suit that has its own propulsion device you get completely disoriented. The sheer size and magnitude of the galaxy leave you with the sense that you’re lost forever. Words cant describe the isolation and confusion that overwhelms your senses. In basic terms, you’re totally and completely screwed! Now apply this situation to your own mind. Like before, imagine yourself being the size of a neuron and being placed right in the middle of one of your brains hemispheres. Perception is now the ruler of your universe. You were once 5ft 8in tall and your brain was a 3 pound organ that allowed you to think. Now that youre the size of a neuron, your now completely lost in a 3 pound universe you used to call a mind. Like stars all the neurons look the same and like the vast dark areas that seperated stars in the galaxy, now vast black areas seperate the neurons in the vastness of the mental universe. Perception is relative to the observer, so at microscopic scales your brain is a universe of epic distances.

Perception is what makes everyone different. How I view an object is different from anothers view. Our bodies are the transport mechanism for our mind. The three different areas of the brain all work together to form the mind. Our culture and beliefs shape and mold our minds while DNA created the physical and complex brain that in turn allowed us access to consciousness. Consciousness flows through all living beings allowing DNA to continue its evolutionary march.

Without Earth we would not be here. Earth is the womb and cradle for nurturing evolution. Everything is connected – you, me, the trees, grass, animals, fish, insects and every other living organism. Humans are the only creature that kills for fun and yet everyone is afraid to die. So many of us find it so easy and entertaining to take life and yet we fear death. We go to church and pray to different deities to compensate for our insecurities and actions. Humans are all connected by our genetics and not only are we connected to each other, but were also connected to every other living thing on our green and blue planet. Our environment shapes our perspective on the meaning of life. One day I hope that we all see just how amazing life is and make the sound decision to take care of eachother and most importantly to take care of our planet. Does it make any sense why we would destroy our one and only home, I dont see any. Maybe one day we’ll put aside all of our petty differences and embrace consciousness as the root of our existence.
